In-Person Logistics

The conference is organized by the University of Illinois on June 21-22, 2022 at 200 S. Wacker Drive, Chicago, IL 60606 in collaboration with CEMA, Discovery Partners Institute (DPI, Floors 4 and 20) and the Illini Center (IC, Floor 19). 

Day start:

  • Participants should arrive at 200 S. Wacker Dr. starting at 8:30AM, so that sessions can begin promptly at 9AM each day.
  • At the beginning of each day, chairs/presenters/discussants of the first three session of that day should be in the relevant conference room by 8:50AM to make sure that everything is running properly in their assigned room and online.
  • Attached is a list of all participants, including whether they will join in person or remotely. This information may be especially helpful to session chairs/presenters/discussants.

Building pass:

All in-person participants MUST get a security pass in the building lobby (entrance floor of 200 S. Wacker Dr.) prior to accessing the rest of the building. No pass, no access. The lobby guards have a list of all registered in-person participants and shall issue a pass upon presentation of a matching official ID (DL, passport, etc.)

Conference badge:

All in-person participants should receive a conference badge with their name and affiliation. This badge should be picked up on the 19th floor of the building, from the conference staff in the Illini Center Quad Room/Boardroom.

Moving between locations:

  • The conference is organized by the University of Illinois in collaboration with Discovery Partners Institute (Floors 4 and 20) and the Illini Center (Floor 19).
  • Staircases are for emergency use only. Participants must use elevators to move between floors.
  • The building has two main elevator banks: one serving Floors 16 and above, the other serving the lower floors.
  • The only floors on which it is possible to change elevator banks are the Lobby and Floor 16.
  • All morning sessions are located on Floors 19 (IC) & 20 (DPI), which are served by the same elevator bank.
  • Some of the afternoon sessions will also take place in DPI Rooms A & C on Floor 4. Participants should switch elevator banks on the 16th Floor (more efficient than the Lobby) to move between the 4th Floor and the 19th or 20th Floors.

Private calls: 

Common areas of Floors 19 and 20 are no-cell-call zones. There are private booths for confidential cell phone usage on the 20th Floor of DPI.


The schedule was designed to give ample time for bathroom breaks & room changes. Refreshments and lunch will be available in the IC Quad Room both days. A lactation room is available from 9AM-5:45PM.
