General Information

The theme of this year’s retreat is “Educating Students as Difference-Makers.” During the 2013-2014 Campus Conversations on Undergraduate Education, participants discussed the desire for campus-level student learning outcomes. We desire to educate students as leaders who value excellence, innovation, inclusivity, stewardship, and accountability. Our campus learning outcomes reflect those values. In further reflection, we identified three critical attributes; observation, empathy, and ingenuity, for our students to master as difference-makers.

At the retreat, we will take the opportunity to highlight and engage in conversation the stories and experiences of our exemplary teachers who offer creative and innovative learning environments for student success. We will feature video vignettes, interactive theatre, teaching simulations, and examples of technology-enhanced learning. We encourage attendees to apply for retreat grants to implement ideas inspired during the retreat.

Goals of the Retreat

The goals for the Annual Faculty Retreat are to build on our collective knowledge about teaching and learning, to share innovative ideas and approaches, and to promote partnerships within and beyond the campus community.
