TRAVEL

Travel arrangements to and from the conference are the responsibility of the individual registrants, and not included in the registration fee.

Champaign and Urbana are located in the East Central part of Illinois at the intersection of Interstate Highways I-57, I-74, and I-72. The cities are conveniently located 138 miles south of Chicago (2.5 hour drive from O'Hare International Airport), 124 miles west of Indianapolis, and 168 miles northeast of St. Louis.

Willard Airport (www.flycmi.com) in Champaign/Savoy (approximately 5 miles south of campus) is the closest airport to the University of Illinois. Daily flights are offered to and from Chicago O'Hare (by American Eagle), Detroit (by Northwest Airlink), Cincinnati (by Delta/Comair), and Dallas/Ft. Worth (by American Eagle). It is a small though modern airport with four gates, operated by the University of Illinois. The airport code is "CMI".

Franklin Travel in Champaign is pleased to handle air transportation needs for conference participants and can include a 5 percent discount on American Airlines. Please note that there are several fare inventories that do not permit the discount. Please call Franklin at 800-475-2525 and ask for Toni or email her at toni@franklintravel.com to see if you qualify for a discounted airfare. Please note that the window of travel is valid April 18, 2006 thru April 25, 2006.

Taxi and limo service (www.illinilimo.com) is available at Willard Airport for the short trip to the Historic Lincoln Hotel (209 S. Broadway Ave., Urbana) and the University campus.

Other modes of transportation to Champaign-Urbana from throughout the region include: Lincolnland Express Bus, Greyhound Bus, and Amtrak trains.

The award-winning local bus system is the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District (MTD). They have bus routes throughout the campus and two communities.

Campus Locator Map page shows the location of the University of Illinois within Champaign-Urbana. This page also contains links to an extensive selection of campus area maps including floor plans of some of the buildings.

For more information on travel and driving directions, see the University of Illinois website at: www.uiuc.edu/overview/visitors/directions.html.
