Call for Papers

We are now accepting submissions for the 41st Annual Electric Utility Chemistry Workshop scheduled for June 6-8, 2023 in Champaign, IL.

Papers can cover a wide range of chemistry topics of interest to electric utilities. These can include, but are not limited to:

  • Makeup water treatment
    • Membrane technology
    • Ion exchange
  • Feedwater/Boiler Cycle chemistry
    • Combined Cycle/HRSG plants
    • Conventional plants
    • Cogen
  • Condensate polishing
  • Water quality instrumentation
  • Cooling water
  • Environmental issues
    • Regulations
    • Air quality control & monitoring
    • Waste water treatment, control & monitoring
  • Mercury measurement & control
  • Water conservation & zero liquid discharge

We especially urge electric utility representatives to share their knowledge, experience, successes and failures. Attendees always report that they get a great deal out of the experience of their peers. Technology suppliers are also welcome to submit abstracts. Presentations should be technical in nature and not sales presentations. Partnering with electric utilities always makes for a stronger presentation.

The presentation time slots are usually approximately 30 minutes in length. Presentations should be 20 to 25 minutes in length to allow for questions and discussion following the presentation. With sufficient notice, we can adjust presentation length as needed.

For full consideration, please send titles and abstracts to K. Anthony Selby, Planning Committee Chair, at tselby@comcast.net and cc Michelle Marquart, Conference Coordinator, at mmarqua2@illinois.edu.

The abstract should be descriptive of the paper but not too long; we suggest up to 300 words.

The submission deadline is October 31, 2022. *extended to November 30, 2022*

You may also email Tony and Michelle if you have any questions or suggestions for possible topics.
