When Teaching and Learning Meet Undergraduate Research

2013 Annual Faculty Retreat

The theme of this year’s retreat is “When Teaching and Learning Meet Undergraduate Research.”  The premise of the retreat is that teaching and learning can be significantly enhanced when we engage our students in collaborative research and scholarship. We are pleased to have Dr. Allison Snow as our 2013 Faculty Retreat plenary speaker. Dr. Snow is a professor in the Department of Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology at The Ohio State University and the founding Director of the OSU Undergraduate Research Office.

There will be many opportunities for participants to engage in discussion and to expand upon the plenary talk, in addition to becoming more knowledgeable about what is happening on our campus to engage our students in quality research and scholarship. The retreat will offer interactive concurrent sessions, poster sessions, and lunch conversations.

Goals of the Retreat
The goals for the Annual Faculty Retreat are to build on our collective knowledge about teaching and learning, to share innovative ideas and approaches, and to promote partnerships within and beyond the campus community.

The 2013 Annual Faculty Retreat is sponsored by the Office of the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs,
the Center for Teaching Excellence, and Online & Continuing Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
